Nitro rc car vs normal ic engine rc car we are preparing for a inter college rc car racing competition?

We have two option 1st one is 3.6cc ic engine and the other on is 3 cc nitro engine. Cost of nitro engine is almost double of those of 3.6cc ic engine so my question is it worth it to use nitro engine for this radio controlled car competition . We are complete newbie. One more thing is it possible to defeat nitro engine rc car with normal ic engine.Nitro rc car vs normal ic engine rc car we are preparing for a inter college rc car racing competition?I would say it depends on the weight and scale of the vehicle you are using. The nitro RC motors are super quick, especially on a 1/10th scale RC. The Traxxas 3.3 nitro motor on a 1/10th scale touring car can reach actual speeds of 70mph. Not 1/10th scale 70mph, but actual, as in doing 70mph in a normal size road vehicle. And these speeds are reached in seconds. Cost of about $160 or less (ebay). I doubt you could beat a nitro engine with a normal ic engine though. You would have to modify the ic engine and even then, I don't think it would beat it. Good luck with the project though. Hope this helps.
