What does it mean if you have a skewed inter-quartile range in a box and whisper plot?

If this is your box:

|------|_____|_____|-------|

It's not skewed.

If this is your box:

|------|__|___________|---------------鈥?br>

Its inter-quartile range is skewed.

The idea is that if the median (middle) is (mush) closer to one of the quartile marks, it's skewed. This means that more of your data is bunched in that end, compared to the other end which is more streched out.

It's a rough approximation of things that you'll find out about later in statistics, so if you're not completely comfortable with the topic, wait until you get to see continuous statistical distributions and this will start making more sense.
