Easy transportation between BWI and the Inner Harbor?

I am looking to do a day trip in Baltimore. I will fly into BWI. I am hoping there is a direct route via subway/ rail system into the Inner Harbor. I've checked the mtamaryland website and I can't figure it out. Thanks for the help.Easy transportation between BWI and the Inner Harbor?
The Light Rail terminal is located at the end of the International Terminal on the lower level. The ticket machines are inside the terminal and cost $1.60 one way, $3.20 Round Trip and $3.50 for a Day Pass. Take Light Rail straight to the Convention Center station and walk 5 blocks down Pratt St. to the Inner Harbor. Reverse direction to return to the airport.Easy transportation between BWI and the Inner Harbor?
If you are not from the area it is hard to read the information about the Maryland Transit Authority. I looked at it, I am pretty sure that you can take the Light Rail from BWI to Camden yards, or Lexington Market. You will have to walk a few blocks to get to the Inner Harbor, no matter which one you take. Once you get to BWI just look for the signs that say Light Rail, or ask someone, once you get over there you will have to buy a ticket for the Light Rail. I am sure there will be better maps there that can tell you what to do. Hope this helps. Have a good time at the Inner Harbor.

What is there to do at the Inner Harbor for New Years Eve?

I live in PA, and we want to travel to Baltimore for New Year's Eve. We booked a hotel, and I know they have fireworks downtown, but does anyone know what else they have? or if there are any clubs/restaurants near the inner harbor that are having events? We are looking for something low cost. Is it worth going downtown to see the fireworks? What is there to do at the Inner Harbor for New Years Eve?
Near the harbor theres ruths chris steakhouse cheesecake factory, hooters, ESPN Zone, fogo de chao, phillips ESPN zone, sooo many more For clubs theres Power Plant which is a coldasack of clubs with different themes its allot of fun. What is there to do at the Inner Harbor for New Years Eve?
I have never been there on new years eve but from what I hear, it is a pretty good place to be. One of my friends went two years ago and spent the night in the ESPN zone which is a pretty awesome place. You could also check out the hard rock cafe or even a night cruise in the bay. Have fun!

Help me to choose between Washing Zoo OR Baltimore inner harbour walk?

Pls help me to chose between above. We had been to DC and seen most of the museums. This cherry blossom,we will visit again and spend 12th apr, at DC. We are planning either to drive and visit baltimore for 4-5 hrs OR go to DC zoo (for 5 yr old son). Help me to choose. Never been to baltimore, thinking of brief visiting it for few hrs (13th morning drive from DC hotel , spend 4-5 hrs and drive back for 5 hrs). Is it feasible? OR DC zoo would be better? Thanks in advance for tips.Help me to choose between Washing Zoo OR Baltimore inner harbour walk?
I lived in DC for 5 yrs and loved it. Can't say that Baltimore is one of my favorite destinations, but if you've never been, you should go for the day just to say you've been there. We mostly just strolled around the inner harbor and rode a water taxi around, and then had dinner at one of the many places on the harbor. There is a large aquarium and science center off to the side of the harbor that your son might enjoy. And you can climb the world trade center building for some nice views.

If you do decide to stay in DC, the zoo is quite nice. It's lovely to walk around in, and the pandas are famous. You could combine the zoo with a visit to the National Cathedral, which is quite impressive. Also, my favorite Mexican restaurant is just one block up Wisconsin Ave from the cathedral -- it's called Cactus Cantina. They have a tortilla making machine right by the entrance and you can watch them making the tortillas before before delivering them to your table. Try the fajitas, which are fantastic.

Happy travels!
Go to the Inner Harbor, they've got a great aquarium there, the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Look it up on the net. The dophin show is great, and there are places to eat right there on the harbor.Help me to choose between Washing Zoo OR Baltimore inner harbour walk?
if seeing animals is your thing then dc zoo is it. also, location of the zoo isn't near anything else.

You could park and spend rest of day walking and seeing Baltimore harbor....crab cake, Baltimore aquarium, harbor, shops...etc.
I've taken kids on fields trips to the aqarium, the science center, and the zoo. Honestly, I'd say it depends on the energy levels of you and the 5 year old, and possibly the weather. Baltimore's indoor atrractions can use up excessive kid energy, but the zoo is very spread out. The kids greatly enjoyed all three of them.

I'm trying to remember where the train station in relation to the Harbor, and if y'all wouldn't enjoy taking the train more.Help me to choose between Washing Zoo OR Baltimore inner harbour walk?
Choose the Zoo. Your five year old will love it. As soon as you get in...go towards the bear exhibit and look for the bear that roams up and down a tree. Very funny sight that your son will laugh at.
Regarding parking at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, there are many parking garages on the surrounding streets--just look for the signs. Be aware that they are all fairly expensive (I believe that you will pay about $15 for six hours, but I could be wrong). There's little or no street parking in the area, which allows the garages to charge whatever they want.

A little less than 2 miles. Its not a bad walk in that you will be going through downtown where it is fairly safe. Its a slight downhill slope.

A nice hotel close to Inner Harbor that isn't too expensive!I need some hotel ideas for Baltimore's Inner Harbor.?
Depends on your definitions of "close" and "expensive"

Typically if you want to be with in reasonable walking distance to the Inner Harbor, you are looking at about $175 and up right now. If you are OK with that my favorite in the Renaissance. Its got the best location and views.

But if you shop around and you are flexible with your dates you can find some deals.

Thinking about moving to the inner harbor of Baltimore...?

I'd love a condo on the water or overlooking it, a 1 bedroom is all I need, but I'd like to pay no more than 1,200 monthly.

Is it possible?Thinking about moving to the inner harbor of Baltimore...?
wow thats awesome Its worth it I used to live there. The aquariom is fanatic, and the stuff they got is fabulous and the excitment is amzing. Yes it is... Dream big because if you dream small your expectations will come faster but they wont really be what you want. If you dream big you'll try as hard as you can to make the best and if you see it isnt then you'll try harder
To rent or own? To own for 1,200 a month is an impossibility, unless you've got a ton of money for a downpayment.

There are apartments and condos for rent somewhere near the $1,200-1,500 range but you'll be paying extra for parking and things of that sort. They won't overlook the harbor but you'll get a nice view of the stretch of waterway that is viewable from the Canton area. (Tindeco Lofts are an example as well as others on Boston St.)

If you want to own on the harbor consider Harborview, but expect to pay $500,000 - $1m.Thinking about moving to the inner harbor of Baltimore...?

is taken from the pagoda. You can see Fort McHenry in the middle of the photo (in front of the two skinny smokestacks pointing up in the background). The fireworks will go off from a barge in the water just to the left of the fort.

The only problems are that you are pretty far from them, so you don't get the boom that you would sitting at Fort McHenry; and you miss out on the displays going on in the inner harbor proper.

Baltimore Maryland's Inner Harbor, Cheap Hotel within Walking Distance.?

Flights to Baltimore are really cheap and I thought it would be a nice get away to visit the Inner Harbor which seems really popular this coming Sept for my Anniversary. Only problem is, every hotel within the Inner Habor is soooo expensive. The cheapest I could find was $175.00 per night. Do any locals know of any other places that are in that area that are cheaper? Walking distance is a must seeing I won't be renting a car. Thanks!!Baltimore Maryland's Inner Harbor, Cheap Hotel within Walking Distance.?
Any hotel that's right on the harbor will be very expensive. Check Hotels.com/Expedia.com and look for hotels within a 3 to 4 block radius. You'll save money and it really is an easy walk to the harbor. There is good public transportation, too, with both bus and light rail service available.

The cab service in Charm City is moderately priced and very reliable. In addition, most hotels will provide very good information about taking public transit wherever you want to go. Plan your trip for a weekend, when rates are lower, and be sure to see Fort McHenry, the Baltimore Zoo and the Train Museum, as well as the National Aquarium and Maryland Science Museum, and don't miss the Walters Art Gallery. An insider's tip....the Aquarium is very uncrowded on Friday night and you can even arrange for a personal tour.

The weather in September is gorgeous! Be sure to take a water taxi across the harbor to Fells Point for bar-hopping and a romantic dinner. Good Luck and Enjoy it is very good either way....Going to the inner harbor in Baltimore for my 1st anniversary. need a good place for crab cakes. any ideas?
Try Pisces in the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It's a bit pricey but has a wonderful, romantic atmosphere and great food, including crabcakes. The nighttime view of the inner harbour is magnificent. If nothing else, go there for after dinner drinks and enjoy the view. Be sure to call for reservations.
"Phillips" hands down, it has a lovely view of the Harbor and the best Hush Puppies.

Best - Johnny Pollack's sausage in Lexington Market, which is the best in Bal'm'r! Get down with real people -- you might feel better as part of a group, one of you should have a tattoo or a bouffant hairdo -- better both! Serious the Market is worth it - the best produce, chocolates, and ( I know no sea food -- but seriously hon' try one of) Faidley's crab cakes. Go hungry and eat! Please try the crab cakes%26lt; I am in tears thinking of your life without !!

You're going to find a lot of seafood because that's what Baltimore is known for, but at J Paul's, you've got a saloon atmosphere and a menu to match. The original J Paul's is in Georgetown... and the second one is Inner Harbor. It's a "prohibition" sort of place - lol

If you like seafood McCormick and Schmicks is a very good restaurant. The prices are mid to high but they have very good happy hour specials on food as well as drinks. I seem to always eat at Cap City Brewery. It is casual and fairly inexpensive. They have a wide variety in their menu and on their menu they will pair a dish with one of their beers. My favorite thing at this place is the basket of pretzels with horseradish sauce they give you for free (sometimes you have to ask) while you look over the menu and wait for your food.

Yes, and it's one of my favorite places in the world. There's the Aquarium, the Science Center, Phillips restaurant, shopping, a great Barnes %26amp; Noble that is in a building that used to be a power plant and includes a GIANT copper pipe in the middle of the building. Also, Camden Yards (where the Baltimore Orioles play baseball) is only a few blocks away. You can see the USS Constellation, and you can take a submarine ride. There are water taxis that can take you to Ft. McHenry, which is the Fort that Francis Scott Key was outside of when he wrote the Star Spangled Banner. Also, you can rent paddle boats shaped like dragons in the harbor, and you can go to the top of the trade center. In the summer, there is often live music at Pier 5, which is in the same general area.Has anyone ever been to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore?

Is Baltimore Md, Inner Harbor a nice place to visit? Expensive parking? Pricey?

I like the Inner Harbor and think its worth visiting. Parking will run anywhere from $10-$20 depending on the garage. Once you arrive there's lots to do - the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, paddle boats, tons of restaurants, ships to tour and the ferry to Fells Point. The restaurants in Fells Point will be slightly less expensive than the Inner Harbor itself so its a good bet for lunch or dinner.

it's nice for a day, parking will probably cost you about 10 bucks. if u have time, take the ferry boat over to fell's point, it is a cute little town with lots of seafood spots and little shops.
Parking will run you about $10. The food can be a little expensive in the Harbor Place ,which is the main tourist hub in the inner harbor. Everything is within walking distance down there so you can pretty much see everything in 15 minutes. All in all its a family oriented tourist trap. I would suggest if you are in the area long enough that you should go to Arundel Mills mall. Its in close proximity to the airport and the city.Is Baltimore Md, Inner Harbor a nice place to visit? In Sept. I am staying at the Sheraton in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. We are not renting a car and plan to take the light rail from the airport to the hotel. We plan on walking alot, but it we decide we don't want to anymore, what is the best means of transportation around the inner harbor?? Also, what things should we make sure to do while we are there?? Thanks in advance!!!Visiting Baltimore's Inner Harbor?
The Inner Harbor is very walkable--you can go from one end to the other in about 15 minutes, meaning there's no need for transit, nor do I think there's any available beyond the water ferry that cuts across the Inner Harbor.

The major sights to see are the US Constellation, the Maritime Museum which includes the submarine Torsk, the Science Museum, and the buildings full of stores and restaurants. If there's a child with you, also visit Port Discovery, which is just a short walk off the Inner Harbor.

If you decide to visit other places in Baltimore, your options include the Walters Art Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the B%26amp;O Railroad Museum, Lexington Market, Fort McHenry, and the sports stadiums. Some of the above are easier to get to than others via mass transit. Each has a website that includes travel directions.

Which would you rather public money would be spent on in a recession? A gaudy show-off display or such necessities as unemployment insurance and job retraining? Patriotism is in the heart.

Baltimore metro station close to inner harbor?

According to the map there are 2 Charles center and Shot tower/ market place. Does anyone know which is closest to the aquarium, iner harbor? how many blocks away from the inner harbor? is it safe to walk from the station to the tourist places?

    thanks

I already ckeck the maps in the MTA but I need help from a local.Baltimore metro station close to inner harbor?
Shot Tower is closer to the Aquarium, Charles Center is closer to Harborplace. The Inner Harbor is square, and these two metro stations are each about 4 blocks from the northeast and northwest corners of the Harbor, resepectively.

    They are indeed equidistant.

This area is fine - no problem with the walk, especially during the day.Baltimore metro station close to inner harbor?
To make your day easy, this is what I do when visiting the Aquarium and Inner Harbor.

Exit the metro at the Marketplace/Shot Tower stop, walk 2 blocks south towards the Harbor and cross Pratt Street. Follow the signs to the Aquarium--it's well marked, and only a few blocks walk.

Because the Aquarium gets extremely crowded on weekends, make this your first stop, rather than waiting until later in the day.

To avoid long waiting lines, buy your tickets in advance on line, as soon as possible. You can then get your tickets from the E tickets machine, and then enter.

Next to the Aquarium, you can stop at the Hard Rock Caf茅 or ESPN zone for lunch, or even better, walk or take the water taxi to the Inner Harbor Light and Pratt Street pavilions, where the main eateries are located.

    Have a great day!

FYI, weather tomorrow will be in the low 70鈥檚 and rainy.Baltimore metro station close to inner harbor?
the metro stops are right downtown, it is a short walk to Camden Yards, the Aquarium, the Hard Rock Cafe, and all the Inner Harbor Shops.

Be sure to check the times, especially on Sunday, the trains stop running a little early.

Around the area ? Fun stuff to do? Great restaurants? Bars?I Am staying at the Hampton inn inner harbor in Baltimore this coming March. Anyone know what there is to do?
Depends how old you are, what your likes and dislikes are, how long you'll be in town, etc...

The Inner Harbor is known for shops, restaurants and people watching. We have the USS Constellation, built in 1854, it's the last sail-only warship designed and built by the U.S. Navy. During the Civil War, she disrupted the African slave trade by interdicting three slave ships and releasing the imprisoned Africans. We also have the Coast Guard Cutter Taney, the last ship floating that fought in the attack on Pearl Harbor, which also fought in the battle of Okinawa and in Vietnam.

A cab ride away, we have Fort McHenry, a star shaped fort best known for its role in the War of 1812 when it defended Baltimore from an attack by the British navy in the Chesapeake Bay. It was during this bombardment of the fort that Francis Scott Key was inspired to write "The Star-Spangled Banner", which would eventually become the national anthem.

If you want to grab a pint and some food, head to either Fells Point, a coblestone street neighborhood known for pubs and history, or Federal Hill, a hipper and older version of Fells Point, with great restaurants and pubs.

March will be very cold, especially by the water. If you could mention some hobbies or interests, I might be able to direct you a little better. Enjoy your stay.I Am staying at the Hampton inn inner harbor in Baltimore this coming March. Anyone know what there is to do?
26 and 30, perfect. Imported beers, try Max's on Broadway. It's in Fells Point, and they have over 80 beers on tap, and over 120 bottled beers. If you like Irish pubs, we have James Joyce, with good live music and soccer games, they are located in Harbor East, another trendy neighborhood

although not summer time, try some crab cakes. go to Obrycki's, best crab house in Baltimore, but they reopen for the season March 15. good food, try Little Italy, with over 10 restaurants and walking distance from the harbor, or stay on Charles St, plenty of $$ restaurants.

Inner Harbor is a little attempt at creating a downtown bar scene, sort of like Alexandria Old Town in DC (but a lot smaller). There's lots of nightlife.

well there are many resturaunts around the inner harbor to eat and then you can go dancing and party in Power Plant... thats where all the bars and dance clubs are.

    Capitol Grill

    Rusty Scupper

The water in the harbor itself is not really all that clean. You could probably pull up a few crabs but I would throw them back. I wouldn't ever eat anything that came out of the Inner Harbor! There's a lot of runoff from the chemical plants there, and there was a rash of pfisteria a few years back.

If you want crabs in the Inner Harbor, go to one of the many crabhouses (but stay away from Phillips) and pay for ones that come from nice, clean water somewhere closer to the Eastern shore! Can you go crabbing in inner harbor baltimore maryland? if so where?
Yes,your best bet is to visit one of the yummy restaurants in the inner harbor to get some good crabs ( do not go to Phillips Buffet),it's nasty.

The Rusty Scupper is one of the oldest and best restaurants in the harbor.

City Lights inside the Harborplace has real good food as well.

Of course , the Cheesecakefactory is a favorite around here.

Have a great time while you are here.

Baltimore - Inner Harbor: Restaurants and Grocery Stores?

Okay, so my brother is a Law student and he'll be working in Baltimore this summer for a few months. His birthday is in a few days and I figured that it would be cool to get him a gift certificate to someplace near where he lives or works for the summer.

Works at Calvert and Baltimore street (at the Court)

Lives near Martin Luther King and Pratt St.

Any cool restaurants? American style dining works... or just generally cool places.

Any supermarket type places around there so he can buy some food?

I researched some stuff online, but I figure that Baltimore folks know the best.

Thanks!Baltimore - Inner Harbor: Restaurants and Grocery Stores?
I'm not sure what area your brother is coming from or has lived in before, and so don't know what he is familiar with... but as far as supermarkets go, Wegmans and Traders Joes are both great (though very different from one another). Neither are located super close to where he will be living or working, but both are worth a trip (if he has a car). Wegmans is like a mecca for people who love food.

I don't live in Baltimore, so I'll leave it to locals to suggest restaurants.

Nice gift idea for your brother, though!

Edit: The DC/Baltimore Chowhound board would be a great place to ask for restaurant suggestions. Give them the specifics, as you did here. http://chowhound.chow.com/boards/14Baltimore - Inner Harbor: Restaurants and Grocery Stores?
There is a Superfresh supermarket on Charles Street, a couple blocks from Calvert and Baltimore.

Anyone stay in Inner Harbor Baltimore, MD before?

My husband and I want to go away for our 1 year wedding anniversary. A couple friends of ours suggested going to Baltimore. I went there when I was really little before but don't remember too much about it. Are there any hotels with rooms with jacuzzis? I've been looking online and haven't found any yet. Also, what are some good restaurants? Any suggestions...Anyone stay in Inner Harbor Baltimore, MD before?
I imagine that a lot has changed since you last came to Baltimore. Ever since the Baltimore Orioles baseball club moved into their current stadium back in 1992 the inner harbor area has since really built itself up, to the point where it is the biggest tourist area of Baltimore. Then the Baltimore Ravens and had a stadium built for them right next door to Camden Yards.

The First Mariner arena is just blocks away (also known to locals as the Baltimore arena), and there are a couple of concert venues Powerplant Live (outdoor) and Rams Head Live (Indoor) at Market place which is also just a few blocks away.

The inner harbor itself is just crawling with shops, restaurants/bars. There is a little tourist mall, there is the ESPN Zone restaurant, a Barns and Nobles bookstore, etc.

The last time I was down at the inner harbor, I was with a bunch of co-workers we took time to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. You may think this is just a desert place, it's actually a full-service restaurant that sells itself off of it's deserts, and does a BOOMING business everyday. When I was there, we were one of the first people to get into the restaurant and let me tell you the place filled up quick and the line backed up. If you want to look into the Cheesecake Factory, here's a link for you. http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/Loca鈥?/a>

As far as restaurants go if you like Italian, like New York City Baltimore has it's own Little Italy section, also right by the inner harbor. I have been there before. I used to go with family members and eat at a place called Vallegia's (forgive my spelling). It used to be a really nice upscale restaurant, but to my understand it has changed ownership from the original family. I just haven't been back since, but I have heard good things about another restaurant there called "Chiaperelli's" and there are numberous places over there you can check out.

As for hotels, I live in the suburbs. I really have no reason to be checking out the hotels downtown, but there are plenty of them. You wanted one with a jacuzzi. I don't know what your price range but on a quick search I did find one link for a hotel that does offer jacuzzis, but I'll just say this doesn't appear cheap. http://www.harbormagic.com/AdmiralFell/a鈥?/a>

Well I hope this helps, good luck and I hope you two enjoy your time in Baltimore.

Places to eat near Pier6 Concert Pavilion or Inner Harbor, Baltimore MD?

I'm going to a concert Friday @ Pier Six Pavilion near the Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

Since I'm travelling from near Harrisburg, PA I'll need to grab a bite to eat. I've never been in Baltimore before (driven past it many times) and would prefer to park in 1 spot and walk to eat and the concert then walk back to the car to head home.

I'd rather relax and have a decent meal rather than end up eating a hot dog %26amp; pretzel at the concert.

    Any recommendations? Places to avoid?

i've never gone to the bars there, i usually go to fells point.

just get a cab and go to fells point for bars; there is a big strip of bars and it is tons of fun. its like 5 minutes away, no biggie.

    have fun!
Stay away from a club called Iguana Cantina. Unless your like 21 going on 14, you will hate it.

I would say ESPN zone is fun. Also the tapas place is great on the harbor.Bars and Restaurants in Baltimore's Inner Harbor?
Skip Phillips.... the Inner Harbor one isn't that good. There are lots of restaurants in the Inner Harbor to choose from. Rusty Scupper is good. Depending on how old you are, here's the bar run-down: Federal Hill is the most fun if you are 30-ish or around there; Canton and Fells Point tend to cater to a younger, more college-y crowd, but I enjoy Slainte (in Fells Point) and Pazo (Fells Point). Pazo also has tasty food.
http://www.letzgoout.com has listings for about 50,000 bars, pool halls, singles clubs, pubs, karaoke, comedy clubs, dance clubs, sports bars, cigar bars, live music venues, brew pubs, jazz clubs, biker bars, whiskey bars, honky tonks, cantinas, road house bars, blues bars, college bars, dive bars, neighborhood bars, wine bars, piano bar... whatever you're looking for. Check it out!
Phillip's is ok food but has a killer view of the Harbor. Fells Point is a great place to hang out. Go check out a little bar called "Moby's" across from the Green Turtle (also a good time). You can walk to the water front from there and check out Slainte! Have a great time!
Just hop in a cab, and tell them you want to go to Fells Point. When you get dropped off, you have have a ton of fun bars to pick from. Nacho Mama's is also a fun place to eat, if you like Mexican and want a fun drink! Hubcap of Margarita for all to share!
Find the area called the Power Plant. It's nothing but clubs, bars, and restaurants. Ask anyone when you check into your hotel and they'll know about it and can point you in right direction.

The closest one is outside the city in Catonsville, maybe a twenty minute drive. There is one inside the city but with the traffic, and the fact that it's not in the best area, you'll prolly want to go to the Catonsville store.

    5702 Balt Natnl Pike

    Catonsville, MD 21228

Hope you're driving. From the Inner Harbor take 395 South to 95 South

Then Take 695 North toward Towson (that's the beltway-if you're not from around here)

Take exit 15a to rte 40 east It's just before you get to Ingleside Ave but you'll have to make a u-turn at that street to get to it.

It should only take 15 minutes with normal/light traffic to get there.

Good luck. Have fun in Bmore!!

Aside from the National Aquarium, most stuff in the IH is based on taking your money. There are some ships there that you can get tours on if you're in to that. Now here's the good part, when it comes time to eat don't eat in the IH. Go a few blocks south to Cross Street Market. There are all kinds of stalls in there and if you go down to the far end there is a place called Nick's Seafood. You can buy your fish and have it cooked for you right there. They've also got a raw bar and other stuff. The best part is, this is where the locals go and you can meet some real characters there. Ask them for things to do in the area and you cant go wrong. For more upscale seafood, go across the street to 100 E. Pratt St. to Legal Seafood. Next door to Philips is J. Pauls. They have ribs, steaks, and chops. Kid friendly spots at Baltimore Inner Harbor?

My parents, hubby, 2 year old, and I will be going to see Thomas the Train in Baltimore this weekend. We are going to be leaving the train station in the early eveing and want to get dinner at the near by Inner Harbor before our drive home. I am trying to find a spot for dinner that is not fast food, but will be ok with a toddler who is reved up from a day of adventures. Any suggestions from other parent's? It is also my hubby's birthday this weekend so we want to do something fun but not someplace that will be bent out of shape if my son is tired and cranky (not that I let him go wild in public-just given the day I have no clue if he will be tired and calm or over excited). Thanks!!!Kid friendly spots at Baltimore Inner Harbor?
There is a Legal Sea Foods in one the shops bordering the harbor. They more than used to having kids and they make great crab cakes! Just a little ways around the harbor is the Baltimore Acquarium which is also pretty cool to see!Kid friendly spots at Baltimore Inner Harbor?

Is anyone familiar with the horse-drawn carriage rides in Baltimore's Inner Harbor?

I wanted to know if anyone has taken a carriage ride around Baltimore's Inner Harbor? Also, can you please tell me, how much was the carriage ride?Is anyone familiar with the horse-drawn carriage rides in Baltimore's Inner Harbor?
I'm originally from Maryland and I'm famiuliar with Baltimore. Camden Yards is something to see at night all lit up, Hammerjacks is a hoot if it's still in operation, and many of my family was put back together there at the hospital, University of Maryland Shock Trauma, best hospital in the world! They still do the carriage rides but I;m sure the cost has went up since my last trip there. Search sites for Baltimore, chances are you'll find something. If your going though, make sure you get too see everything there is there, including they're zoo. God I miss home, have fun.Is anyone familiar with the horse-drawn carriage rides in Baltimore's Inner Harbor?
Yes. They have carriages that are pulled by horses. They take you around the inner harbor. The rides cost varies depending on what you will tip the horse.

Things To Do at Inner Harbor, Baltimore?

I'm considering going to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore for my 18th birthday. What are some things to do there, preferably that teens would enjoy? Also, what are some of the best restaurants there? If you've been there before, what are your opinions of the place for a day trip?

Any other suggestions for 18th birthday locations?

Thanks! =)Things To Do at Inner Harbor, Baltimore?
The Aquarium and Science Center are the main attractions. If you like baseball, there might be an Oriole game a few blocks away.

Tons of restaurants. Harborplace Light Street Pavilion has a bunch of food stands. At Harborplace Pratt Street Pavilion many like the Cheesecake Factory. If you like Italian, you are a short drive (or long walk) from Little Italy.

Its hard to get specific without knowing your taste. Baltimore's Inner Harbor doesn't really do it for me.Things To Do at Inner Harbor, Baltimore?
One thing I can tell you. EAT LOTS OF CRAB CAKES. OH MY WORD THE CRAB CAKES.

Baltimore Inner Harbor, 1 day enough and also what restaurant can i eat crab/crab cakes?

Is the inner harbor safe, no bums, crime ridden area? Also does I83 go right into inner harbor and is Little Italy walking distance from Acquarium, and where is the location of Duck tours?Baltimore Inner Harbor, 1 day enough and also what restaurant can i eat crab/crab cakes?
Avoid Phillips. They market themselves as the home of Maryland Crab Cakes, but they use Asain crab meat. Littly Italy is your best bet. It's in a safe neighborhood and it's in comfortable walking distance from the inner Harbor.
I did the Duck tour last week in Baltimore and it was a lot of fun. You buy your ticket at a kiosk by the USS Constitution ship and the Ducks take off about a block away. You get a cute "Quacker" to quack at everyone. It is a 90 minute tour that takes you into the harbor and also tours the Baltimore sights.

The Inner Harbor is very safe. You might see a few panhandlers but probably not. Park your car at the Hyatt garage and there is a walkway on the 3rd level to the Inner Harbor. Go through the mall building and down to first level, go outside, turn left and the Duck kiosk is about 100 feet from there.

Little Italy is adjacent to the Inner Harbor by the Aquarium. Good restaurants all over. For crabcakes or crab imperial, go to Phillips or to the Rusty Scupper.

As for 183 going to the Harbor, I did not drive but rode with a friend so I do not know.Baltimore Inner Harbor, 1 day enough and also what restaurant can i eat crab/crab cakes?
It's been a while since my family has been to Baltimore but the last time we were there it was safe. The Inner Harbor is so cool. There is a resturant there called Phillips, if you want crab/crab cakes then you'll want to eat there!

    Have fun!
i have lived in baltimore for almost 2 years now and the inner harbor is definitely safe in comparison to the rest of the city. free parking is limited and parking lots/garages are expensive (at least $20 for 2-3 hours). if you want crab cakes go to phillips, but go early because the wait on the weekends can be up to 2hours. also 83 goes right to the harbor with the exception of a few turns, but there signs so you can't get lostBaltimore Inner Harbor, 1 day enough and also what restaurant can i eat crab/crab cakes?
I ate at The Rusty Scupper a few years ago and it was amazingly good. Pretty sure they have crab cakes.
Philips Crab House is the best!

There is the Science Center, Aquarium, Hard Rock Cafe, ESPN Zone and lots of little shops and eatery's. The duck tours is off Caroline Street. You'll be ok walking if you just be aware of your surroundings. Interstate 83 goes right downtown to the inner harbor. Take St. Paul St. It turns into Light St. and right to the harbor......or......continue all the way to the end of 83 and follow blue and white signs. Have fun!
That's a lot of questions! One day is plenty at the inner harbor. Rusty Scupper has great views of the Harbor %26amp; good food, too. Phillips Seafood is good for food, but lacking the scenes--your choice as to what's important to you...The Inner Harbor, Little Italy %26amp; Aquarium are all easy walking distance. There's a garage in Little Italy, just off the main road--it's brick with green rails. It's a little cheaper and an easy walk. Duck Tours are in the Inner Harbour near the aquarium--I've never taken them but they always seem busy. You may see a couple bums...it is a major city %26amp; they are out there just like anywhere else. You may also luck out %26amp; see street preformers--some are truely awsome. B-more has had many now famous artists/singer grace it's harbor area!

As far as safety--it's perfectly fine durring the day. Late at night, I wouldn't go out alone, but you'd be fine in a group. I only say that because you never know who may be out %26amp; looking for trouble--especially on a Friday/Saturday night when all the kids are out drinking. However, the area is well policed.

    Have a good time!
Only one place to get a great crabcake in Bmore-and that is Faidley's at Lexington market-near the harbor. The locals are always there-not a fancy place but all meat.................

I was just there at a conference so I didn't have a lot of free time but the aquarium was great. I suggest pre-purchasing your tickets though b/c the day we went people were buying their tickets for entrance like 3 hours later. Tons of shops and nice restaraunts, there is also a science museum and a childrens museum within walking distance of the harbor. There were paddle boats and stuff to rent out in the harbor. The ESPN zone was pretty cool, they had pool and bowling, games and such as well as a bar and food. Eat at Phillips (it's a seafood restaraunt) and have the crab cakes! We stayed at the Sheraton, it was really nice. What are the best things to do at Inner Harbor, Baltimore?

Baltimore Inner Harbor SIghts - Advice needed quick!?

Hubby and I are visiting Baltimore this weekend. We want to check out the Inner Harbor. Please give some advice on best places to visit, museums, tours, restaurants (with water view). We love seafood, but we are not looking for very expensive restaurants! Thanks so much!Baltimore Inner Harbor SIghts - Advice needed quick!?
The Baltimore Sea Aquarium was nice. I'd pre-purchase your tickets with a time of entry. Thats what we did and the day we went people were buying their tickets for like later that day. Then later when we walked out they were no longer selling tickets for the day and it was only like 4.

Phillips was nice but probably a little pricey. We really like Capitol Brewing Company, more reasonable. Actually most of the restaraunts on the harbor posted their menus outside so you could get an idea of price. Lastly most of the restaraunts have a water view so you won't have to worry about that. The cheesecake factory was awesome as usual!Baltimore Inner Harbor SIghts - Advice needed quick!?
There is a great Cheesecake Factory there (very close to the Constellation ship-museum)

Not too expensive... Definitely try their "Thai Lettuce Wraps" They are AMAZING.

If you are willing to spend some time / and a little more money, try "The Rusty Scupper". Which you can get to by water taxi. Fun and good food.Baltimore Inner Harbor SIghts - Advice needed quick!?
I live in Baltimore and some good waterfront restaurants are The cheesecake factory, flemings steakhouse, the baltimore marriott waterfront has great food, and som attractions are the aquarium, try a duck boat ride..they are soo fun you get a whole tour of the city in about 45 minues and then the boat has wheels so you drive around the whole city being shown everything, then you are taken in the water in the same vehicle! It is pretty cool, Theres alot of cool stuff to do, you can take tours of the US Constellation! It is neat...But be careful when i went to the city about 6 months ago with friends we saw a dead body soaked in blood laying behind the waterfront best buy..........Be careful and watch your back
Head for the Aquarium! Most amazing building, all glass %26amp; glowing critters...and on the top floor, a rainforest exhibit with genuine 3-toed sloths hanging around from the top branches of exotic trees. There's a super German-style restaurant with every kind of high-to-low price ranges with heavenly deli sandwiches %26amp; salads that's w/in walking distance of the Aquarium...there are harbor tours you can take, Navy boats you can tour [they had a WW-II submarine when we visited which was amazingly tiny inside] and good stuff everywhere. Just get down there, park %26amp; start looking at everything! They probably have live band music too...lots of "freebie" entertainment, in other words.

Need a hotel recommendation in Baltimore's Inner Harbor?

My husband and I are planning on traveling to Baltimore's Inner Harbor in August. We are looking for a hotel that is within walking distance to most of the main attractions (aquarium, science museum, shopping, etc.) and that has free (or at least very cheap) parking. Any suggestions? We have never been there so we do not know where to search. Thanks! :)Need a hotel recommendation in Baltimore's Inner Harbor?
The lord baltimore is an amazing hotel only one block north of the inner harbor but the parking is unfortunately $20. (I believe it is 20 for the entire stay not per day) It is an historical hotel and has lovely rooms. (the aquarium, science center are all in the harbor and easy walking distance. There are many hotels right there! The Marriott Waterfront is walking distance though a little further than the Marriott Downtown. But parking is a pain at most of the downtown hotels. Just don't risk your luck with street parking in too many places the city runs a shady racket on towing cars.

When you're in Baltimore be sure to check out Odonnell square in Canton for great food and bars (Nacho Mamas is a classic Baltimore type place with great food and even better Margaritas) and of course fells point for shopping and food (and if you remember the tv show homicide it was filmed there).

If you stay close to the harbor you can walk to the federal hill neighborhood which has a great night scene and if you climb to the top of the actual federal hill you have an excellent view of downtown and the harbor.

If you want to head to some cool places up north in the city (be careful some parts are a little dicy) but you can check out monument square with great restuarants and the walters art gallery which is free and a great private art collection.

I would get out of the inner harbor and go to the suburbs for crabs, I am from Maryland and the best places for crab are where the commercial crabers sell to. I would try seaside that is in glen burnie, good prices and awesome crabs, also a place called anne arundel seafood that is in pasadena. All are a 20 min drive if that. Trust me my dad is a commercial crabber and this is where my family goes!!!! Have fun!

If you live north of south of Baltimore, best bet would be the light rail, which would be way cheaper than parking in Inner Harbor.

I haven't been there in about ten years, but I remember going to Planet Hollywood, and the Hard Rock Cafe. I also remember going to a restaurant out on the Bay and having to take a boat out there.
Go to Fells Point to have drinks. All the bars are pretty good, and you can eat while you're there

DON'T EAT at any resturants in the Harbor place like Hooters, Cheescake Factory or Phillips.

They are rat and roach infested ( I work for a refrigeration repair company! I hear HORROR stories from the guys!!)

The AVAM is fun to go to.

How to travel from Washington DC to Baltimore's Inner Harbor on wknds without driving when Marc isn't running?

How do I get from Union Station in Washington DC to Baltimore's Inner Harbor on a weekend without driving, since the Marc train doesn't operate on weekends? How to travel from Washington DC to Baltimore's Inner Harbor on wknds without driving when Marc isn't running?
Amtrak runs seven days a week. It costs more than MARC, but on weekends it's the only option. On the positive side, it's quite a bit quicker than MARC, as it makes far fewer stops.

Once you arrive at Baltimore's Penn Station, you can get on the light rail to take you to the Inner Harbor area.

For schedule and cost information, here's a link to Amtrak's website:

Use the MARC on Friday and leave on it on Monday.

What happened to the Chart House Restaurant at the Baltimore Inner Harbor?

On a recent return visit to Baltimore, couldn't find the Chart House; can someone give me a reference or the information as to when and why it closed; and what has replaced it?What happened to the Chart House Restaurant at the Baltimore Inner Harbor?
In visiting the Inner Harbor did you notice the "Pass Port" tour thing. To me it looks like something from the Epcot center in Florida. Perhaps you took notice to the new additions to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Then there is the fast food McDonald's franchise "Chiipolte". If you nodded yes to any of these that is where the Chart house once stood.

The Chart House went under about 5 years ago then they tried to turn it into a club and then they just bulldozer ed it to the ground. . However, if you really really liked the restaurant and are not afraid to drive a little under 2 hours to Philly. Er I mean Philadelphia. There is one there that is right on the water. It was very nice my boyfriend and I ate there about a year and a half ago.

Hard Rock Cafe. Great view. Right on the Inner Harbor. Just be sure to reserve well in advance (depending on how large your group is).

As for someplace to stay, that's a very expensive area. Use Hotwire.com to get a better price than you would get otherwise.Where is a good place to go for a bachlorette party in Inner harbor, Baltimore?
The harbor has many restaurants and hotels. Some of the hotels also have party rooms. You can stay anywhere from a Days Inn which is very nice and a bit cheaper to The Marriot that can host parties from a birthday party to a wedding.

Also check out the 'Pier 5 Hotel' in Inner Harbor.

Phillips Restaurant is probably the best one. Nice outside seating is available, and it's right in the middle of the inner harbor. Their crab cakes are the bomb.
