Nannies or weathers are a good start, billies when they get to breeding age start to smell. You need a good strong fence, 2/4 wire at least 4 foot tall. And the fence needs to be on the ground, The goats will crawl under the fence if they can. A house of some sort, a god house will work. Goats don't like to get wet. Around here goats sell for anywhere between $15 to $250, all depending on the breed of goat. Pygmy goats are the smallest breed, so they are a little bit easier to contain. You will need a dog collier and a leash, to lead them and train them too. Goat feed, water, {and goats do drink water all thou it may not seam like it at times} and timothy or alfalfa hay. They like to run, jump, and play, you may see them on top of there house from time to time. And you need to be careful of what you let them get close to, because they like to eat anything you don't want them to. Please be care-full some plants are poison. I have breed and raised goats for 42 years.

You will need some kind of shelter and fenced in area to keep them out of the rain,wind, and to keep them warm. As for what gender, castrated males ( wethers ) make the best pets but they're not good for anything besides pets and slaughter ( =[ ). Or does can be okay pets but for a pet I don't suggest a billy at all. You will also need a trough close to the ground. Some feed and hay if you dont have pasture will work nicely. Pygmies, Fainting goats, or Nigerian Dwarfs make good pets. Fainting goats are fun because they faint and Nigerian Dwarfs are really small and cute. U need to know the best feed to get, what kind of housing u can make for them, that they need minerals and salt, special care and that they are smart animals and can get out of their pen if they really want to. Two do a lot better than one!!!! :) :)



The best thing to do is read some books. They give u a lot of good info.

1. You should get at least 2 so the other one won't get lonley

your goat(s) should see the vet at least once a year and they don't like to get wet. Pygmy goats are great.. or Myotonic. goats NEED good fencing as they can climb!

females are best, males tend to be more agressive.

You need a brush, food, shelter, and prices vary.
they're about $75-100 each for just any old goat. special breeds for different purposes cost more.
