Is there a program I can buy so that I can Instant message inter office only?

My bosses computer does not like Yahoo and does not respond well at all when we instant message phone calls or messages to each other. Is there a program at like Best Buy or some where I can buy and install on our computer that will give me the same results. I don't need to be on line it is a very small company but it really help me from having to go to his office or if he is on the phone.
