You know from MC to Army Navy to MC, etc..... How does it work, i am trying to go from MC to Army when after my 4 years and i also plan on lat moving though i'm not sure if i will be allowed too or if i will be allowed to keep my rank, does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this if so could you point me in the right direction.Does anyone have any experiences with inter-service transfers?I'm former 5 years Marine, currently Army so I'd say I've got the experience you're requesting.
1. If you come in as an E-4 or below you'll automatically keep your rank with no issue. If you're a SGT or higher then you'll need to have the SGT's course certificate/Squad Leaders Course Certificate.
2. Things will go smoother for you if you go from your Marine MOS to the exact same thing in the Army. If however, you wish to change your job it can be done. As was the case when you joined the Marine Corps, it will be dependent upon your ASVAB score.
3. Assistance: Once you exit the Marines, simply contact the local US Army Recruiter and they'll guide you in from there. If you have any other questions concerning this subject I'll be glad to help you out. You can email me at this address: rickogle99@hotmail.comDoes anyone have any experiences with inter-service transfers? What your talking about is the "OSVET" (Other Service Veteren) Program. Generally speaking you keep your rank if you laterally convert to a MOS ditectly related to your existing one. If you retrain for another MOS you usually loose 1 rank. The US Army is the only service that does this anymore. Best bet is to go see an Army recruiter to see if your existine MOS is in Demand now and has it been historically. Does anyone have any experiences with inter-service transfers? The 1st 2 are correct.
I want to add that it is not a transfer. You need to finish your time on the first contract. Once separated you are free to go where they will take you.
As far as the MOS goes if what I read the other day is correct you have to go into the MOS you were in or one that directly relates to one the receiving branch has or they give you a new MOS. The Navy and Air Force have stuff that the Army and Marines have zero use for.
Even going from Guard/Select Reserves to active requires discharge from Guard/ Select Reserve and a new contract.
Scuba should know if there are any time issues such as having to wait 30 days after seperation yada yada yada.
