Can you take a 1994 engine out of a crown vic police inter,and put it in a 2000 crown vic?

It might not be a 2000 our city has a couple there going to sell my engine on my crown vic hardly has any miles on itCan you take a 1994 engine out of a crown vic police inter,and put it in a 2000 crown vic?I don't think they will match up with the computer or sensors. Also, it is illegal to downgrade on the year emission standards, especially if you live where they check for that sort of thing. Sorry.
